Context:
Recently, the government has introduced a one-time, one-way switch for central government employees who initially opted for the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), allowing them to revert to the National Pension System (NPS).

Inflation Indexation |

Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW). |
Family Pension |

Family pension varies, based on the accumulated pension corpus and the
annuity plan chosen at retirement. |
·
The legally wedded spouse is entitled to receive 60 % of the employee’s
pension in the event of the employee’s death. |
Lump Sum Payments |
·
Market-linked partial withdrawals are permitted from the accumulated
pension corpus. |
Employees are entitled to one-tenth of their
monthly emoluments for every 6 months of completed service, in addition to
gratuity. |
Applicability |
·
It applies to all Government employees who joined on or after 1 January
2004, except the armed forces. |
·
It is applicable to all Central Government employees who join service on
or after 1 April 2025. |
